Carolyn Hauser has her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She previously completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on neuroscience at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS. Carolyn has been trained in EMDR for 3 years and is now fully certified in EMDR.
Carolyn takes a collaborative and integrative approach to counselling, drawing on cognitive-behavioural, dialectical behavioural, and trauma-informed modalities. In addition to her developing skill base, Carolyn brings warmth and respect for each client’s unique life experiences into each session. She aims to understand the individual perspectives and lived experiences of her clients so that she can curate the treatment plan to suit their unique needs.
Although Carolyn's main focus is on PTSD, CPTSD, and trauma in general, she also works largely with individuals experiencing anxiety and/or depression. Prior to living in Nova Scotia, Carolyn grew up in rural Saskatchewan. This lived experience has provided insight into the difficulties associated with accessing mental health resources and education in rural areas, which has ultimately been a driving force behind her decision to enter the mental health field.
Carolyn is interested in working with diverse clientele and is engaged in allyship with the LGBTQ+, First Nations, and BIPOC communities. She brings with her a feminist and social constructivist perspective, allowing clients to explore their identities in a supportive environment. Carolyn has also gained valuable experience working with adults who are neurodiverse and have unique mental health needs.
Carolyn is currently on leave and is not accepting new clients at this time.
