Mitzi is a dedicated and compassionate clinical social worker with a Master's of Social Work from Dalhousie University. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie University, graduating with distinction, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Prince Edward Island, where she graduated with honours. She is a registered clinical social worker (RSW) with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work and brings over 9 years experience working with children, youth, and adults from diverse backgrounds and who are struggling with substance abuse, poverty, and mental health issues. Currently, Mitzi serves as a case manager for Veterans and RCMP members.
Growing up in Prince Edward Island, Mitzi's personal journey as a person of colour in a less diverse community has given her a profound understanding of the systemic issues, discrimination, and cultural nuances that impact mental health and well-being. This background allows Mitzi to bring empathy, cultural humility, and a strong commitment to social justice to her practice.
As a working mother of two and a fiancé, Mitzi understands the joys and struggles of keeping our complex lives in balance. Her approach to therapy is integrative, tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Mitzi strives to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment where clients feel respected and understood. She is deeply empathetic and has a genuine desire to listen to others without judgment, providing a supportive space for individuals to express their thoughts and feelings.
