About

A little more about me

I'm a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Before becoming a therapist, I trained in medicine and spent years working in healthcare, supporting children and families and connecting with people from many different backgrounds. That experience shaped how I understand the ways our relationships, culture and family dynamics influence who we are and how we move through the world.

I work with children (6 and up), adolescents and adults, and I support parents and families as they navigate change together. Clients often come to me carrying the effects of difficult experiences, along with anxiety, stress, low mood, big emotions or anger, or a sense of being stuck in a major life transition.

My approach is trauma-informed and attachment-based. I draw on Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy, and I use child-centred, developmentally appropriate approaches with younger clients. Every person's path to healing is their own, so we work collaboratively and at your pace.

As an Arabic- and English-speaking therapist, I know how much it matters to feel understood. Whichever language you prefer, your language, culture and lived experience will be respected in our work. I welcome newcomers and Arabic-speaking individuals and families, and I am a registered provider with the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP).

I practise under the clinical supervision of Brenda Johnson, RCT, and am welcoming new clients from November 1 in Dartmouth and virtually across Nova Scotia.
