LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

A space where you don't have to explain yourself first. Where your identity isn't a "topic" we work around. It just gets to be part of who you are.

What Affirming Means Here

More than a rainbow on the wall

Plenty of practices say they're LGBTQIA+ affirming. Fewer can tell you what that actually looks like in practice. For us, it means our clinicians have done the work, clinically, personally, and continuously, to be able to hold space for queer and trans clients without making you do the educating.

It means your identity isn't pathologized, isn't centred as the cause of your distress, and isn't ignored either. It just gets to be part of you, the same way it is everywhere else in your life.

And it means you'll work with someone who understands that minority stress is real, that finding affirming care can be exhausting, and that you deserve to walk into therapy and just be a person.

What People Come In For

Same things anyone else does. Plus a few that are specific.

Most people don't come to therapy "because they're queer." They come for the same reasons everyone does. But sometimes identity is part of the picture, and we're set up to hold both.

Anxiety, depression, and trauma
Coming out (at any age)
Gender exploration
Family of origin difficulties
Religious or spiritual trauma
Relationship and dating
Polyamory and non-monogamy
Internalized shame or homophobia
Minority stress and burnout
Letters for gender-affirming care
Navigating workplace or healthcare
Just wanting to talk to someone who gets it
Our Commitments

What you can expect from us

These aren't optional add-ons. They're how we operate, every session, with every client.

Pronouns and names get used right
Every time. Without flinching, without commentary. If we make a mistake, we correct ourselves and move on. The same is true on intake forms, in our scheduling system, and in any communication you'll have with us.
No conversion practices, ever
We will never try to change your sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. This isn't a marketing line. It's a clinical and ethical baseline that informs every decision we make.
Your identity isn't the problem
If something feels hard, we work to understand what's contributing. Sometimes that's external pressures, sometimes it's history, sometimes it's something else entirely. Your identity is rarely the root cause and we don't treat it that way.
We keep learning
Affirming care isn't a credential you earn once. Our clinicians do ongoing training in queer and trans-affirmative practice. We don't expect our clients to teach us, but we're always working to be better at what we do.

You are welcome here. Exactly as you are.

That includes every letter of LGBTQIA+, every gender, every relationship structure, and every stage of figuring it out. There's no version of you that needs to show up differently for therapy to work.

Common Questions

Questions about affirming therapy

Are all your therapists LGBTQIA+ affirming? ↓
Yes. Our entire team is committed to affirming care. Some of our therapists also have specific clinical training and lived experience that they bring to this work. When you reach out, we can match you with someone who's a particularly good fit.
Do I have to come in to talk about my identity? ↓
No. You can come in for anything (anxiety, work stress, grief, EMDR for trauma) and your identity just gets to be part of who you are while we work on whatever you came for. You don't need to make your identity the focus unless you want to.
Can you write letters for gender-affirming care? ↓
Yes. Several of our clinicians provide WPATH-aligned letters for gender-affirming medical care. We follow current standards of care and informed-consent models. Reach out and we can match you with the right clinician for this.
Is this covered by insurance? ↓
Most major insurance providers cover therapy with a registered clinician. Coverage depends on your plan. Contact us before your first session and we'll help you figure out what's covered.

Show up however you need to.

No referral required. Most insurance accepted. We'll match you with a therapist who gets it.
