Therapy for RCMP members at Wholetherapy
Special Populations

RCMP Health Services

Wholetherapy works with RCMP members and their families through RCMP Health Services. Direct billing, confidential, with clinicians who understand the work.

Quick Facts

What you need to know

Direct billing
We bill RCMP Health Services directly through Medavie Blue Cross. No out-of-pocket cost for approved members.
Approval-based
RCMP mental health coverage operates through service-related condition approval. Coverage and pre-approval are managed through your RCMP Health Services case manager.
Families covered separately
Family Member Counselling Benefit (FMCB) provides counselling for eligible family members of RCMP members. Coverage is separate from the member's benefits.
Confidentiality protected
Your therapy is confidential. We don't share session content with your employer, supervisor, or RCMP Health Services beyond what's required for billing.
What's Covered

RCMP mental health coverage at Wholetherapy

If you've been approved for mental health services through RCMP Health Services, the following are typically covered.

  • Individual psychotherapy with an RCMP-registered provider
  • EMDR therapy for work-related trauma and PTSD
  • Treatment for operational stress injury (OSI)
  • Anxiety, depression, and related conditions tied to service
  • Critical incident stress reactions
  • Substance use concerns
  • Couples and family therapy under FMCB (separate authorization)
  • Virtual sessions across Atlantic Canada
Confidentiality matters
We know confidentiality is a real concern in this line of work. Career implications, clearance, what gets shared and with whom. The straightforward answer: your therapy is confidential. We don't share session content with your employer, with insurers beyond basic billing, or with anyone else without your explicit written consent. If you have specific questions, we'll go through them in detail before your first session.
How It Works

Getting started with RCMP coverage

The process is straightforward. Here's the typical path.

01
Contact us
Let us know you want to use RCMP coverage. We'll ask for your RCMP service number and a few details to verify coverage.
02
We verify your authorization
Our admin team contacts Medavie Blue Cross to confirm what's approved. If you don't have an authorization yet, we can talk through what to ask your case manager for.
03
We match you with a clinician
We match you with a clinician whose specialization fits. Several of our team have specific experience with RCMP, military, and first responder populations.
04
Book and start
Once you're matched, we book your first session. You won't be asked for payment information at any point.
05
We handle billing
Billing goes directly to Medavie Blue Cross after each session. No invoices, no reimbursement claims, no paperwork on your end.
Why RCMP Members Choose Wholetherapy

You shouldn't have to explain the job to your therapist

Our clinicians who work with RCMP, military, and first responders have specific training in occupational trauma, moral injury, and operational stress. Some have direct lived experience in these communities. All understand that this work doesn't fit into a standard one-size-fits-all box.

You won't have to spend half your first session translating policing culture, shift work, or what a bad call looks like. We already know.

Clinician Spotlight

Meet Mitzi Mitchell, MSW

Mitzi Mitchell is our Clinical Specialist for RCMP, military, and Veteran clients — EMDR trained, with deep experience supporting members through operational stress injuries, trauma, and the demands of the job. She is the only clinician on our team able to work across every coverage stream we accept — including RCMP, VAC, CAF, NIHB, and most private insurance — so there's no coverage guesswork.

Daytime availability
Mitzi sees clients weekdays between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM — a window that works well around shift schedules.

Common Questions

Questions about RCMP

Will my detachment or supervisor know I'm in therapy?↓
No. Therapy is confidential. We don't share information with your employer, supervisor, or anyone else without your explicit written consent. Billing requires basic information be shared with Medavie Blue Cross (your name, dates of service, billing codes), but the content of your sessions stays private.
What about my security clearance? Could this affect it?↓
Engaging in mental health treatment alone does not affect clearance. Many RCMP members access therapy regularly. If you have specific concerns about your situation, we're happy to talk through them before your first session.
How do I get authorization for coverage?↓
Authorization comes through your RCMP Health Services case manager. If you don't know who that is, the RCMP Member Assistance Program (1-800-268-7708) is a good first stop. We can also guide you through the conversation.
Can my spouse or partner access therapy through this?↓
Yes, through the Family Member Counselling Benefit (FMCB), eligible family members can access counselling. Coverage is separate from yours and has its own approval process.
Can I do sessions virtually?↓
Yes. Virtual sessions across Atlantic Canada are covered the same as in-person. For shift workers, this often makes consistent therapy much more sustainable.
What if I'm a former member?↓
Veterans of the RCMP may have coverage through VAC instead of RCMP Health Services. We work with both. See our VAC/CAF page or get in touch and we'll help you figure out which applies.

Confidential. Specialized. Direct billing.

You don't have to keep carrying it alone. We'll handle the verification and billing.
