I come into sessions with an open mind and a humanistic approach. The goal is to help clients feel some ease and acceptance, not to push you somewhere you're not ready to go.
I'm a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. My approach is trauma-informed and integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in assisted living settings as a mental health worker, supporting clients across a wide range of mental health presentations. That experience gave me a real grounding in what people actually need when they're struggling, not just what looks good on paper.
I'm particularly interested in working with diverse populations and have experience with abuse and neglect, substance use, depression, and supporting LGBTQ+, First Nations, and BIPOC communities. I've also worked with clients managing acquired brain injury and a variety of mental health disorders.
What I bring to sessions is genuine curiosity and an absence of judgment. Therapy works best when it doesn't feel like therapy. When you can show up as yourself and we figure things out together.
