Healing happens in relationship. My primary focus is on PTSD, complex trauma, and the long-term patterns that trauma creates. As Wholetherapy's Clinical Director and EMDR Trauma Lead, this is where I do my deepest work.
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I previously completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on neuroscience at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS. I've been trained in EMDR since 2021 and am now fully certified in EMDR. I am Wholetherapy's Clinical Director and EMDR Trauma Lead. As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training, I provide consultation for EMDR-trained clinicians working toward EMDR certification.
Before living in Nova Scotia, I grew up in rural Saskatchewan. That lived experience gave me insight into the difficulties of accessing mental health resources and education in rural areas. It's ultimately what drove me into this field.
As an EMDR-certified therapist, my main focus is on PTSD, CPTSD, and trauma in general. Though EMDR is my main modality, I also use dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and other trauma-informed practices to build treatment plans that fit each client.
I'm engaged in allyship with the LGBTQ+, First Nations, and BIPOC communities. I bring a feminist and social constructivist perspective, which allows clients to explore their identities in a supportive environment. I also have valuable experience working with neurodiverse adults who have unique mental health needs.
As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training™, Carolyn provides EMDR consultation for EMDR-trained therapists working toward EMDR certification, both individually and through our consultation groups. Our next group starts in September 2026.
Carolyn isn't currently accepting new clients, but the rest of our team is. Browse profiles or take the matching quiz to find a fit.
