Trauma does not wait for a convenient commute. Wholetherapy provides evidence-based online trauma therapy, including virtual EMDR, to adults anywhere in Nova Scotia — from Halifax and Dartmouth to Cape Breton, the Valley, and everywhere between. Same clinicians, same eight-phase EMDR protocol, delivered over secure, encrypted video.
How virtual EMDR works
Virtual EMDR is well established and, for most people, works as well as in person. The bilateral stimulation is delivered on screen: you follow a moving visual cue, or use alternating tones through headphones, and the eight-phase protocol is otherwise unchanged.
What virtual sessions ask of you is a private space where you will not be interrupted, a stable connection, and headphones. Your therapist will also set up a grounding plan for the end of each session, since you will not have the natural transition of leaving an office.
Is online trauma therapy right for you?
Virtual care fits most people, and for many it is the difference between starting therapy and putting it off another year. It is not the right fit for everyone. If you dissociate significantly, or if home is not a place you feel safe, your therapist may recommend starting in person at our Dartmouth office and moving online later. That is exactly the kind of question your free 15-minute consultation is for.
Beyond EMDR
Our clinicians also work virtually with anxiety, chronic stress, grief, attachment injury, and life transitions, and provide couples therapy and youth and family therapy online. For online couples work, you can book a free consult directly with Avani Santhoshkumar. Learn more about EMDR therapy in Halifax and Dartmouth or trauma recovery.
Fees, insurance, and coverage area
Individual sessions are $175–$190 for 50 minutes, with direct billing available to most major insurers — details on our fees and coverage page. No referral is required. We offer virtual care across Nova Scotia, and elsewhere in Atlantic Canada subject to clinician licensure and availability.
